Fire Extinguisher Recharge Technician – ON HOLD

Fire Protection Inc. is currently accepting resumés for an experienced, motivated and reliable individual in fire extinguisher service & recharging at our fast-paced and busy facility in Edmonton. The successful candidate will be able to work independently – as well as in a group.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Inspect & service fire extinguishers as per code requirements.
• General shop duties such as recharging fire extinguishers, system cylinders, C02& Nitrogen cartridges, etc.
• Low-pressure hydro testing.
• The ability to obtain and maintain any related certifications as required.
• Take direction & training from Supervisors/Managers.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Alberta Provincial Certification in Fire Extinguisher inspection, service & maintenance
• Transport Canada training is an asset but not required.
• Any background in a service shop type environment and mechanical experience is definitely an asset but not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position involves prolonged standing, and lifting and carrying up to 50lbs.

Kitchen Fire Suppression Inspector – ON HOLD

Fire Protection Inc. is currently looking to recruit a motivated, reliable & experienced individual as a Kitchen Fire Suppression Inspector here in Edmonton.  This is a full-time position with competitive wages & benefits (RRSP matching, Health, Dental, Vision, LTD, Life, and AD&D).  Experience IS preferred, but training is available for the right individual.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspect and service kitchen fire suppression systems.
  • Inspect and service fire extinguishers
  • Inspect and service emergency lighting
  • Complete inspection reports with deficiencies and recommendations regarding customer equipment
  • Obtain and maintain any related certifications as required
  • Take direction and training from Supervisors and Managers

Fire Sprinkler Designer required – ON HOLD

Fire Protection Inc. is currently looking to recruit a motivated, reliable & experienced individual as a Fire Sprinkler Designer here in Edmonton.  This is a full-time position with competitive wages & benefits (RRSP matching, Health, Dental, Vision, LTD, Life, and AD&D).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design fire sprinkler systems including wet, dry, pre-action, special hazards, standpipe and fire pump systems to meet specifications, NFPA and local codes for new construction and renovations
  • Performs hydraulic calculations for fire sprinkler systems
  • Provide material take offs and drawings based on your designs for the applicable division supervisor
  • Liaison with the customer regarding design changes or concerns
  • Liaison with suppliers for material quotes for new construction and renovation
  • Provide assistance to division supervisors with installations and field operations
  • Liaison with the Fire Sprinkler Estimator and Engineer to ensure the smooth completion of the job

QUALIFICATIONS

Apprentice Sprinkler Fitter – ON HOLD

Fire Protection Inc. is currently accepting resumés for an apprentice sprinkler fitter to join our fire sprinkler division.  This is a full-time position with competitive wages & benefits (RRSP matching, Health, Dental, Vision, LTD, Life, and AD&D).  Successful applicants are/will be enrolled in the sprinkler fitter apprenticeship program with the goal of attaining a Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter designation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Loading & unloading sprinkler pipes and fittings to/from the job site as required
  • Measure and cut steel/plastic piping in accordance with the supervisor and/or blueprints
  • Attach sprinkler heads and fittings to pipes and ensure pipe systems do not have any leaks
  • Checking packing slips of materials ordered to materials received to ensure completeness
  • Completion of work orders and reports on a timely basis
  • Take direction from the site foreman and safely complete directed tasks
  • Use equipment such as ladders, scaffolding and lifts in performing tasks

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspecting & Testing fire sprinkler systems. Wet, Dry, Pre-Action, Deluge, Foam, Standpipe, Fire Pump and Backflow preventers.
  • Flowing fire pumps, standpipes and fire hydrants.
  • Completing visual walkthrough of each building and identify deficiencies, recommendations and also provide remarks that will benefit both the customer and fire protection employee’s in re-inspecting the same system the year after.

Sprinkler Service Supervisor – Position Filled

Fire Protection Inc. is currently accepting resumés for an experienced journeyman sprinkler fitter to lead our sprinkler service division.  This is a full-time position with competitive wages & benefits (RRSP matching, Health, Dental, Vision, LTD, Life, and AD&D).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the total performance of the sprinkler service department
  • Ensure that all the activities in the sprinkler service division are in compliance with applicable OH&S legislation and HSE (Health Safety Environment) safety rules along with Alberta Labour laws.
  • Provide guidance to the service coordinators and sales department as required
  • Provide timely, quality service to our customer base, including following up on any issues or complaints and rectifying them as required
  • Respond to sprinkler service technicians’ concerns and issues in an efficient and expedient manner
  • Responsible for organizing the sprinkler service technicians to ensure the smooth completion of the day’s jobs
  • Responsible for all the paperwork generated by the sprinkler service technicians to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Liaise with the service coordinators to ensure that the sprinkler service technicians are scheduled efficiently
  • Provide pricing on sprinkler specific work (including tenders when required)
  • Perform technical duties in the field when deemed necessary to complete a specific project or job
  • Responsible for ensuring parts are ordered for deficiency jobs
  • Assist in the recruiting, hiring and training of all sprinkler service technicians
  • Provide on-going performance feedback to sprinkler service technicians and ensure that performance discrepancies are addressed and corrective actions are taken immediately
  • Ensure that regular safety checks/paperwork are carried out as directed by the company safety officer

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter
  • Minimum ten (10) years post-journeyman certification with experience operating in a service environment
  • Minimum three (3) years of proven supervisory experience
  • Previous experience in quoting sprinkler service jobs and tenders required
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
