Fire Extinguisher Inspection & Maintenance Road Technician required – Updated – May 4, 2018

Fire Protection Inc. is currently looking for motivated and reliable individuals who can be trained in fire extinguisher inspection & maintenance.  This position is for a portable road technician to perform inspection & maintenance of buildings primarily in the Edmonton & surrounding area with occasional out of town jobs. The successful candidate will be able to work independently as well as in a group. Experience is an asset but training provided to the right candidate.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Inspect & service fire extinguishers as per code requirements.
• The ability to obtain and maintain any related certifications as required.
• Take direction & training from Supervisors/Managers.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Alberta Provincial Certification in Fire Extinguisher inspection, service & maintenance (upon completion of training provided by Fire Protection Inc.)
• Transport Canada training is an asset but not required.
• Any background in a service shop type environment and mechanical experience is definitely an asset but not required.

NOTE: Successful candidate must possess a valid drivers license and have excellent customer/communication skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position involves prolonged standing, and lifting and carrying up to 50lbs also driving skills must be sharp and defensive

Sprinkler Fitter required – Updated – May 4, 2018

Fire Protection Inc. is currently looking for an apprentice sprinkler fitter to join our fire sprinkler division.  This is a full-time position with competitive wages & benefits (RRSP matching, Health, Dental, Vision, LTD, Life, and AD&D).  Successful applicants are/will be enrolled in the sprinkler fitter apprenticeship program with the goal of attaining a Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter designation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Loading & unloading sprinkler pipes and fittings to/from the job site as required
  • Measure and cut steel/plastic piping in accordance with the supervisor and/or blueprints
  • Attach sprinkler heads and fittings to pipes and ensure pipe systems do not have any leaks
  • Checking packing slips of materials ordered to materials received to ensure completeness
  • Completion of work orders and reports on a timely basis
  • Take direction from the site foreman and safely complete directed tasks
  • Use equipment such as ladders, scaffolding and lifts in performing tasks

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Dependable & hard-working
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract
  • Ability to work out-of-town occasionally
  • Good organizational skills
  • Safety-oriented

The successful candidate will be able to work independently – as well as in a group. Experience is an asset but training provided to the right candidate.

Fire Alarm Technician required – Updated – May 1, 2018

Fire Protection Inc. is currently looking to recruit a motivated, reliable & experienced individual as a Fire Alarm Technician here in Edmonton.  This is a full-time position with competitive wages & benefits (RRSP matching, Health, Dental, Vision, LTD, Life, and AD&D)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspection and testing of fire alarm systems, emergency lighting & clean agent systems
  • Repair and installation of fire alarm systems, emergency lighting & clean agent systems
  • Troubleshooting fire alarm systems
  • Inspection of portable fire extinguishers (training available)
  • Completion of work orders and reports on a timely basis

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years’ related fire alarm experience
  • P-Ticket or CFAA certification
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract
  • Customer service skills
  • Good English in oral and written communications skills
  • Strong troubleshooting ability
  • Ability to work out-of-town occasionally
  • Ability to be on-call after hours on a rotational basis
  • Good organizational skills
